The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)

Because this page is in desperate need of some colour at the moment, and because she is so beautiful... Zooey Deschanel. That's all for today, I'm off to enjoy what is left of the sunshine. Click here to listen to Take It Back by She & Him.

Another Fashion Revamp

Five minutes ago, I was thinking of sharing a couple of my favourite looks from the Spring 2010 Top Shop collection - after going on the Top Shop website I came across this. Great. Another "fashion revamp" for the keffiyeh. So long Palestinian solidarity, hello hyper colour and techno prints (don't forget pompoms). Come on... really? Oh, Top Shop you know I can't stay mad at you. Here are some of my favourite looks.

One Man Wolf Pack

It's a sad day in any girl's life when she has to pass down her once treasured wolf shirts to her fourteen year old sister. No? Just me? You know, letting go of them isn't even the worst part. It's knowing that my sister only finds value in them because "werewolf is the new vampire" and not because they are literally soaked in irony. I believe it is safe to say that The Wolfpack has officially disbanded.

Pour one down.

Like A Tree, Or A High Class Prostitute

There is something to be said for rediscovering a love long since forgotten. Recently, I downloaded (forgive me) the soundtrack for the first season of Flight of the Conchords and was reminded of what a comedic masterpiece the show really is. It was like falling in love all over again. With two men. At the same time. I highly recommend both watching the show and listening to the music (which, I would argue, stands on its own). Thanks to Bret and Jemaine for helping me get through my recent pre-presentation nerves which, had it not been for their funky/sexy grooves, would have completely overtaken me.

Love Potion No. 9

After purchasing my first ever item of clothing online two days ago, I have decided that eBay is a gateway drug in the world of online shopping. Since then I have been tempted again and again to buy unreasonable (but so wonderful) pieces online. Yesterday it was the Girls in Glasses tee by Danny Roberts. Today, it is the Love Potion No. 9 tee by Wildfox. If the Wildfox thing is dated, I'll give you that. I am actually, truly lusting after this:

Why can't I be a good girl and just study for my Mythologies of the Ancient Near East test this afternoon instead of living in a dreamworld? I'm shutting down my laptop.

And The Wanting Comes In Waves

The Hazards of Love is the fifth album by The Decemberists and certainly worth the fifty eight minutes it takes to listen to it from beginning to end. This brilliant concept album has also been turned into a film, which I will be watching tonight. And falling in love with, I'm sure.

Click to experience Here Come The Waves.

* Update: So, I watched Here Come The Waves last night with my boyfriend and my best friend Nicola (who is a new convert to the Hazards of Love secular cult), and it was crazy-beautiful. Though I would have enjoyed a more overt visualization of the album, complete with Margaret and the fawn, I can appreciate this artistic interpretation too. Two thumbs up.

It's Official

Spring is here! It is now entirely justifiable to buy delicate and feminine items when you're out enjoying the afternoon sun. Like I did. Today. And I thoroughly enjoy my new pastel blue silk and lace cami, thanks for asking. Here is something else I thoroughly enjoy. Nudes, bows, ruffles, and delicate floral patterns, Forever 21 Spring Collection 2010.

Just Before Midnight Blue

Few things in life are better than going into a store, finding something you like, and thinking "I can make that"... and then actually doing it. Ok, I lied. There are a lot of things that are better than that. Like chocolate, and warm laundry, and spooning, and blackest black mascara, and sunny days in March.
But you get the idea.

This is a necklace my sister and I spotted in Urban Outfitters that cost $30. After seeing it, we went straight to our favourite bead store and got all the materials we needed to make an exact (if not better) copy of it for just $7.

Inspiration.
